A kitchen, a full bathroom and a new external door at one house in Hampton Wick, Kingston upon Thames, all done by one company in two jobs for the same client.
Kitchen, bathroom and external door renovation by one company in Hampton Wick, Kingston upon Thames
This house in Hampton Wick came to us in two jobs. First we fitted a new kitchen, including the floor. Later the same client had us strip out and rebuild the bathroom and replace the external door and its frame. The kitchen was the client's own choice: we collected it from the supplier and fitted it.
Why use one company for a kitchen, bathroom and door renovation
A renovation split between a kitchen fitter, a plumber, an electrician, a tiler and a door fitter leaves the client to agree dates and prices with each of them. When something does not line up, each trade can point at the next one. Here one company did all of it: the carpentry, the plumbing, the electrics, the tiling and the door. One company to ask about the schedule, one to call if something needs attention, and one guarantee that covers all the work we carried out.
The client came back for the second job after the kitchen because they were happy with our prices and the quality of the work.
Kitchen fitting in Hampton Wick: handleless units and a wine cooler
The kitchen runs along one wall of a long, narrow room. The units are dark with a wood grain, the fronts have no handles and the drawers open from a groove in the front edge. A stainless-steel wine cooler sits in the run, under the worktop.
The window at the end of the room has white shutters, and the floor is herringbone.

Two built-in ovens and a herringbone floor
At the other end of the room the tall units hold two built-in ovens, one above the other. We laid the herringbone floor in this kitchen as part of the job. Herringbone is set out from a centre line before the first piece goes down, otherwise the pattern drifts across a room this long.
For more about floors, see our flooring service.

Conglomerate worktop, hob and sink
The worktop is conglomerate, an engineered stone made of crushed stone bound with resin. It is white and runs the whole length of the units. The hob sits in a recess under a rough timber beam, and the sink is a double-bowl stainless-steel model with a black mixer tap.
A worktop like this is cut to the room and needs a level base along its whole length, which matters in a kitchen this long. Under the sink, the supply and waste pipework is connected inside the base unit.

Bathroom renovation in Hampton Wick: stripped out and rebuilt
The bathroom was a full rebuild. We took it back, redid the plumbing and the electrics, and rebuilt the room. This photo shows the floor tiles going down with levelling clips, which keep the edges of neighbouring tiles flush. The green wall tiles are already up behind them.

How the shower was waterproofed before tiling
This photo is from earlier in the job. The shower tray is in place and a yellow waterproof membrane runs around it. The walls are boards, and adhesive is on the floor for the first tiles. Waterproofing goes in before any tile, because it is hidden once the room is finished.

Green-tiled bathroom with a rain shower
The finished room has green wall tiles laid in a brick pattern, a low white shower tray with a sliding glass door, and a shower with a fixed rain head and a handset. The toilet is wall-hung, which leaves more of the floor visible in a small room.

Vanity basin, radiator and floor tiles
The basin sits on a vanity unit under two opening windows with frosted glass, and a slim white radiator stands next to it. The floor is covered with the same large tiles as in the photo from the middle of the job.

External door replacement in Hampton Wick: new timber door and frame
The last part of the job was the external door. We replaced the door and its frame. The new door is timber, with two arched glazed panels in frosted glass above two raised panels. The glass lets light into the passage behind it and keeps the view in blurred. The opening sits under a brick arch.

The new door from inside
From inside, the door has a night latch and a lock, and the floor in the passage is herringbone, like the kitchen.

Frequently asked questions about kitchen and bathroom renovation in Hampton Wick
Do you renovate kitchens and bathrooms in Hampton Wick and Kingston upon Thames?
Yes. This house in Hampton Wick is one of our projects in the area. We also work in Teddington, Twickenham and the rest of South London and Surrey, from our base in Carshalton.
Can one company do the kitchen, the bathroom and a new door in the same house?
Yes. In this house we fitted the kitchen and the herringbone floor, rebuilt the bathroom including the plumbing, electrics and tiling, and replaced the external door and frame. It was two jobs for the same client, one after the other.
Why use one contractor instead of separate trades?
You deal with one company about dates, prices and problems. When a job needs several trades, one team plans the order of work, so a tiler does not wait for a plumber and nobody blames the previous trade for a gap. The company that did the work is also the one that answers if something needs attention.
Can you fit a kitchen I have bought from a supplier?
Yes. On this job the client chose the kitchen and we collected it from the supplier and fitted it.
What is a conglomerate worktop?
An engineered stone worktop made from crushed stone bound with resin. It comes in slabs, so it is cut to the room, and it needs a level base along its whole length.
Do you waterproof a shower before tiling?
Yes. In this bathroom the shower tray was set in a waterproof membrane before any tiles went down, as the photo from earlier in the job shows.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes. Our guarantee covers all the work we carry out, so on a job like this one company stands behind the kitchen, the bathroom and the door.
